A natural blackjack (Ace + any 10-value card) pays 3:2. Deposit RM100, win RM150. Avoid tables that pay 6:5 — they cost you more in the long run.
Winning against the dealer without a natural blackjack pays 1:1 (even money). A tie (push) is returned 100% to the player.
When the dealer shows an Ace, you can purchase insurance for half your bet. It pays 2:1 if the dealer has blackjack — but statistically, it is not recommended.

A hand with no Ace, or where the Ace must count as 1. Example: 9 + 8 = Hard 17. Options are more limited compared to a soft hand.

Once you've got the basic strategy down, there are a few advanced approaches that can help you play more consistently. The first is understanding the dealer's upcard — the card the dealer shows gives you valuable insight into how likely they are to bust. When the dealer is showing a 4, 5, or 6, their bust probability is very high (around 40–42%). In these situations, the smart play is to stand early and let the dealer bust on their own, rather than risking a hit and potentially busting yourself.
Second is the "never split 10s" rule — even if you're dealt two 10-value cards (a pair of 10s, Jacks, Queens, or Kings), don't split them. A total of 20 is an extremely strong hand with a high chance of winning. Splitting two 10s only weakens both hands and increases your risk. That said, Aces and 8s should always be split, no exceptions.
